*NEW* by bicycle
In collaboration with the IGN (the Belgian national geographical institute), the Pays de Villers tourist board and Le Gracq – Les cyclistes quotidiens have recently published a relief map for cyclists of the region covering Chastre, Court-Saint-Etienne, Mont-Saint-Guibert, Villers-la-Ville and Walhain.
Drawn up by many cycling volunteers, the network of cycle tracks (accessible to ordinary bicycles) between the five towns is set out according to the level of safety desired by cyclists. Where practicable, it avoids routes where road traffic is dense or fast.
Simple and very visible coding makes this map a splendid tool for creating your own route, whether for leisure or more functional reasons.
Eight tourist circuits are also detailed on the map. These circuits, of varying difficulty, allow cyclists to discover the rural heritage. The network of cycle tracks includes links between several of the different circuits, meaning everyone can draw up the route of their dreams on the quite country roads around Villers! There are countless ways to discover them!
In addition to this map, the Pays de Villers tourist board has published a booklet that gives short presentations of the 82 main monuments, sites or curiosities and museums in the region, the contact details for bicycle repair shops, accommodation and those of around twenty establishments that sell snacks or places where you can simply go to enjoy your picnic. An essential guide for happy pedalling!
The three trilingual guides (Fr/Nl/En) are packaged in a special bag and sold for the price of € 8 at the Pays de Villers in Walloon Brabant tourist board (at the reception in the abbey), 55 rue de l’abbaye. Open every day from 10.00 to 18.00.
You can also receive it by post for the price of € 10, postage and packaging included, by sending the payment to Maison du Tourisme du Pays de Villers, Rue de l'Abbaye 55, 1495 Villers-la-Ville: 068-2404862-65. Don’t forget to mention "Carte vélo MT Villers" when purchasing.
