Saturday September 11 and Sunday September 12 - Heritage Days in Chastre

Those two days will be dedicated to Heritage everywhere in Wallonia and visits are organised by the Syndicat d'Initiative et du Tourisme of Chastre. You can follow a circuit allowing to discover various interesting sites of the region starting from the Tourism office.
 

Saturday September 11 and Sunday September 12 - Heritage Days in Gentinnes

Gentinnes mill is one of the last working watermills in Belgium, still powered by the force of the water. Come and watch the wheel turn, see the mill at work and all the steps involved in the production of flour, from cleaning the grain to sifting, all at the 22nd Heritage Day.

Grinding demonstrations every 30 minutes (quarter past and quarter to the hour).
Sampling of home-made bread baked using flour produced by the mill! Snacks, honey.

Saturday September 11 and Sunday September 12 - Heritage Days in the Abbey of Villers-la-Ville

The Villers Abbey situated in the commune of Villers-la-Ville in grounds of more than 36 hectares, is a destination site imbued with history and emotion. It was founded in the 12th Century, under the aegis of Saint Bernard. Today, its majestic ruins give a marvellous idea of the life of monks of the Cistercian Order.

Thematic guided tours are organised during those two days. Guided tour on 11 am, 2 pm and 4 pm. Opening on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 6 pm.Various animations for children, who can play the role of archeologists in the Abbey.

Sunday September 12 - Heritage Days in Villers-la-Ville

The Tourist Board of the Villers Region in Walloon Brabant, in cooperation with a local artist, Pascale Ledent, is organising a tour of the Church of Notre Dame de la Visitation, in Villers-la-Ville focusing in particular on the modern stained glass windows and including demonstrations of the production of stained glass windows.

The church was rebuilt in 1925 in Romanesque style based on the plans of the architect Pepermas, only the tower dates back to the 12th century. Inside, there is an impressive collection of works of art, including two Brabant altarpieces carved around the year 1500, as well as a Roman tympanum with a Paschal lamb from the 12th century. The 15 windows are all decorated with stained glass, most are based on modern workmanship and are the creation of F. Crickx from Brussels.

Guided tour on 2 pm, 3 pm and 4 pm.

'L'espace Nature' organises donkey and pony rides each sunday from April to October. Only children accompanied by their parents will be accepted.
